Scientific research is a very large category covering the science of photobiomodulation (PBM) or light therapy. With respect to PBM, scientific research is a very specific category. It offers up to date studies of light therapy, or PBM. More specifically, this category includes research on the effects of PBM in its various forms. Thus, such forms of light therapy include transcranial photobiomodulation (tPBM), intranasal photobiomodulation (iPBM), combination of both tPBM and iPBM, and other forms of applications of PBM.

Furthermore, the focus of the scientific research category is mostly on peer-reviewed articles in reputable scientific publications. Such publications provide the latest and the most substantiated information about PBM. They offer a good insight in the current state of research into PBM, including applications, efficacy and delivery.

The field of PBM has been attracting more and more bright minds of science, garnering interest for a number of applications. Consequently, scientific research of this exciting field is growing. A significant body of works on PBM has been produced and published annually. Thus, the science of photobiomodulation is gaining support. The studies of light therapy are dating well over half a century back.

All the vielight.com articles which have strong scientific basis behind them will be a part of this important category. As the body of scientific research in PBM is growing, so will the body of articles in this category.

Can Light Penetrate the Skull?

Can light penetrate the human skull and reach the brain? This question often arises among both skeptics and scientists. The answer is yes but with caveats; this requires an appropriate wavelength (nm) and sufficient irradiance (mW/cm²) In this demonstration with a real human skull, the Vielight Neuro, emitting 810 nm near-infrared light at an [...]

What Is Gulf War Illness? Understanding Symptoms & Research

Gulf War Illness (GWI) is a chronic, multi-symptom condition affecting veterans of the 1990-1991 Gulf War. Those affected experience a wide range of symptoms, including fatigue, cognitive difficulties, chronic pain, and gastrointestinal issues.  Despite decades of research, GWI remains complex and difficult to diagnose, with multiple potential causes linked to environmental exposures during [...]

What is regenerative medicine?

Is Photobiomodulation a Regenerative Medicine? Regenerative medicine aims to restore damaged tissues and organs by stimulating the body’s natural healing processes.  While treatments like stem cell therapy and tissue engineering are well known in this field, emerging technologies such as photobiomodulation (PBM) are gaining attention for their potential role in regeneration, particularly in Brain [...]

What is Neurotech?

What is Neurotech? Discover Photobiomodulation’s Role in Brain Function Neurotech, or neurotechnology, encompasses tools and innovations that interact with or enhance brain function. These advancements are transforming healthcare by offering solutions for neurological disorders like depression, Alzheimer’s, and anxiety. In addition to healthcare, Neurotech drives cognitive enhancement, improving memory, focus, and mental clarity. It’s [...]

Dementia and Brain Photobiomodulation

In 2015, our dementia pilot trial made history by being the first to show efficacy of brain photobiomodulation (PBM) for dementia in humans with a home-use device, the Vielight Neuro Gamma.[1] In 2019, Dr. Linda Chao, a professor in the Departments of Radiology, Biomedical Imaging and Psychiatry at the University of California, verified our [...]

Vielight Bi-Annual Update

Vielight Neuro Gamma Shines in a Brain Injury Study The sports medicine community recognizes that concussions from repetitive blows to the head are major public health concerns. To address this issue, Vielight is dedicating resources to seek for a solution using non-invasive transcranial photobiomodulation (tPBM) modality. We try to be a part of the [...]
